Encountering an expired link is inherently frustrating. It abruptly halts the user’s journey and often feels like an error, even when it’s a necessary security measure. My goal with this micro-interaction was to soften that friction. By combining empathetic copy, clear visual cues, and a direct recovery path, I designed a modal that keeps the user’s flow intact and minimizes cognitive load.
Traditional “expired link” pages often leave users stranded. They rely on heavy technical jargon or fail to provide a clear next step, forcing the user to manually figure out how to get back on track. This breaks momentum and degrades trust in the product.
The solution? A clean, focused modal that frames the expired link not as a failure, but as a simple, easily resolvable step. The design utilizes minimal motion to draw attention without being jarring, and relies on a strict information hierarchy to guide the user to immediate recovery.

Good UX isn’t just about designing the ideal user journey; it’s about designing graceful safety nets when that journey gets interrupted. This “Link Expired” flow demonstrates how a combination of visual clarity and empathetic problem-solving can turn a potential drop-off point into a seamless detour.
