The Focus app is built on the principle of minimalism and deep work. For the 2025 holiday season, the challenge was to design a promotional campaign that felt like a gift rather than an interruption. This project focuses on a limited-time 50% discount banner designed to drive Premium conversions while maintaining the product’s core aesthetic of calm and clarity.
The layout follows a natural Z-pattern eye-flow. A user first encounters the countdown timer in the top-left, which establishes immediate context and urgency through scarcity. Their eyes then move to the large “50% OFF” value proposition at the center, before finally landing on the “Claim offer” call-to-action (CTA) in the bottom-right. This flow ensures the user understands the when, the what, and the how in less than two seconds.

Rather than a standard sales popup, the UI utilizes a gift box motif. By incorporating a red ribbon and bow, the design taps into the mental model of receiving a present. This shifts the user’s perception from “I am being sold something” to “I am receiving a seasonal benefit.” The use of a vibrant green background creates a “pop” against the app’s neutral canvas, signaling that this is a special, time-sensitive event.

By treating a promotional banner as a native feature rather than an overlay, the design respects the user’s cognitive load. It proves that aggressive growth tactics aren’t necessary when you have a clear value proposition and a design that prioritizes the user’s emotional experience.
