In the design for Focus, I’ve implemented a minimal bottom-sheet modal that prioritizes user data integrity through intentional friction. Resetting progress is a powerful and destructive action, so the core of this solution is a three-second cooldown mechanism. By replacing the immediate “Reset” button with a timed countdown, the interface breaks the user’s muscle memory and prevents the common habit of clicking through confirmation dialogs without reading them.

The visual hierarchy is crafted to support this moment of reflection. The “Cancel” button is styled as the primary action in blue, providing a clear and safe path for users who may have triggered the popup accidentally. Only after the cooldown period does the “Reset” button transition into its active, high-contrast red state, signaling the gravity of the action. This ensures that the final interaction is a deliberate, conscious choice rather than a reflex.
By housing this logic within a bottom-sheet component, the design stays within the natural ergonomic thumb zone while maintaining the clean, spacious aesthetic of the Focus brand. This approach proves that great user experience isn’t always about speed; it’s about strategically slowing the user down at critical moments to protect their progress and reduce human error.
