As the Lead UX/UI and Product Designer for Focus, my primary objective was to dismantle the traditional, often overwhelming sign-up barrier and replace it with a welcoming, linear narrative. In many applications, onboarding is treated as a data-collection utility; for Focus, I treated it as the first step in building a relationship. By utilizing a strategy of progressive disclosure, I ensured that users are never presented with more than one decision at a time. This deliberate pacing reduces the cognitive load and creates a “micro-win” with every tap, transforming a potentially tedious registration into a series of effortless interactions.

The flow begins with an immediate pivot toward personalization. By asking for the user’s birthday (with a simplified date-picker) and name before their credentials, the interface shifts from a clinical form to a human conversation. This is followed by a high-clarity authentication screen that provides users with choice without causing decision paralysis. To maintain a sense of companionship throughout this journey, I integrated a friendly mascot (Gus) that serves as a guide, adding a layer of empathy and visual warmth that aligns with the brand’s core identity.

What truly defines this project is the technical bridge between design and production. Beyond the initial Figma prototypes, I led the architecture of the UI within Unity. By personally implementing the UI, I was able to maintain total fidelity to the design vision, ensuring that the final, real-world execution felt just as fluid and responsive as the original concept.
