The primary challenge of this project was to design a feedback mechanism for the Focus app that captures high-quality user data without creating friction or frustration. As a UX designer, my goal was to create a survey that felt like a natural extension of the product’s mindful and productive atmosphere, rather than a disruptive pop-up.
To achieve a high completion rate, I implemented a clear sense of orientation and progression. A subtle progress bar at the top of the interface provides immediate visual feedback on the survey’s length, which helps reduce survey fatigue. I explicitly designed this to serve as a Progress Feedback Loop, allowing users to gauge the remaining effort and contributing to overall higher completion rates. By using a modal-style layout with significant white space, minimal distractions, and consistent visual hierarchy, I ensured that Reduced Cognitive Load was maintained, simplifying the decision-making process for users as they concentrate on one question at a time.

The interaction design focuses on ease of use through diverse and intuitive input types. I used large, tappable selection cards optimized for easy mobile touch input and consistent card styling to create Mobile-First Tap Targets with high usability. For measuring user satisfaction, a horizontal 1-5 numerical scale offers a Familiar Mental Model that is universally understood and allows for quick user self-assessment without requiring complex written descriptions. To capture deeper, unexpected feedback without cluttering the screen for those with standard answers, I included a conditional text input field that appears when a user selects the ‘Other’ category, generating Rich Qualitative Data from interested users.
I also prioritized a Forgiving Path & Logic by including a persistent Back button on every screen, allowing users to re-evaluate their answers while ensuring the Next button remains inactive until a valid selection is made, thus ensuring complete data collection. This careful navigation structure guides the user through the process, culminating in a clear and appreciative confirmation screen. This final Confirmation and Value screen is simple and appreciative, explicitly designed to reinforce the value of the user’s feedback, end the interaction on a positive, helpful note, and strengthen the long-term relationship between the subscriber and the brand.
In my role as Lead UX/UI Designer, I handled everything from the initial information architecture to the final visual design and UX writing. This project demonstrates my ability to combine structured thinking with empathetic design to create a seamless, professional feedback loop.
